Cutting our Christmas Tree

On Saturday, we went up to Idaho City to cut our Christmas Tree. It's something we try to do every year, but due to some conflicts with scheduling we haven't made it up in the past couple years.
The snow was perfect! It was only about 5 inches deep. Just right for the kids, and the day wasn't too cold. We all stayed pretty warm and no one even complained about being cold till the very end of the day. Aaron and Jennica even took their coats off for a while to cool down.
I think this year we found the best tree ever. It's a beauty. I have no idea what kind of tree it is, but it has short needles and it's nice and tall and full. There is just nothing like a fresh Christmas tree that you cut down yourself. If I ever break down and buy an artificial tree, someone please, first make me smell it, and then shoot me.

After we found our tree and dragged it kicking and screaming back to the truck we did some sledding. This is the first time the kids have really been old enough to enjoy sledding, and boy did they have a blast. We found a gentle sloping hill that just went on and on and on. Since the snow wasn't deep it was really easy treking back up the hill. We stayed out till it started to get dark, then Noah, Jennica and I took the last ride down the hill together. We went so far that we nearly made it back to the truck!
It was the most perfect day. The stuff memories are made of.

I am not one to trek to get a tree but your trip looks like tons of fun! Can't wait to see pictures of your tree all made up!

WOW! That looks like so much fun!! I'm hoping for snow this year, but with the weather being so weird, I'm doubtful.
