My Cat's Fetish

We have a cat.
It's a lovely cat.
Her name is Jessica.
Jennica named her and everything Jennica names, from her imaginary friends, to the new baby, HAS to be named Jessica. It's her favorite name.
We got her from my good friend Mandy for Christmas. Well... technically, Santa got her from my good friend Mandy and brought her to our house on Christmas Eve.
Now, Mandy reads my blog, so I say this in good humor and I hope she won't feel responsable for my inability to train our cat.
Okay. The cat has a serious issue with toilet paper. We found out about it just a few days after bringing her home, and immediately moved the toilet paper and paper towels to the top shelf in the pantry.
Now she has found a way to get up there.
This is a typical roll of toilet paper if you try and use the bathroom at our house. Yeah, I know, why don't I just throw the roll away... but I'm just to darn cheap to throw it away. We do throw away the outer layers of shread, because I mean really, there's a reason we don't wipe with confetti.
Being a first time cat owner I have to ask, Is this behavior normal... In any sense of the word? Or does my cat have an unusual interest in disposable absorbent paper products?
She does look a little crazy doesn't she?

LOL! That's too funny! I guess you can close the doors to your bathroom from now on. Look at that cat, you can't stay mad at that cute face. ^_^

My cat when she was a kitten did crazy things like that. When she did notty things, we would spray her with a water bottle. It totally works! We also got her front claws removed when we got her spayed. She will eventually grow out of it and eventually meaning probably a couple of years.

Thanks Kristi! WE are trying the squirt bottle thing. The cat's wet an awful lot, but it's starting to make a difference! Thanks for the tip.

Camille's Husband here.
In addition to the TP rolls, this cat has learned that our oldest son is affraid of her. So, she stalks him and chases him around the house. The poor kid crys about it every time. I have been trying to get him to show the cat who's boss and be a man about it, but he's still too affraid of the cat. Camille, and my co-workers, think it's funny, but I think it's only gonna get worse and cause trauma to the kid in the long run.

It's really not that bad (anymore). He's figuring out if he stands up to her and chases after her she's really just a scared-y cat.

That is just too funny. We had a weenie dog that used to chase my sister around the house whenever she had this red blanket with her. Thank goodness it did not traumatize her later in life. Cats are just true scardy cats however kittens can be incredibly psycho.

I am glad that the water bottle thing is starting to work. My cat was completely soaked for a while but it does get better.

I can't say it's any worse than the fetish our cat had as a kitten (when she was still an inside pet). She liked to relieve herself in odd places --the minute DH dropped the morning paper, she would go and whizz on it (I guess this would be good if she were a dog!) And she saved her poops for the bathtub. Why? At least they were relatively easy to clean up. UGH!
